Decent, few small issues

I got the Business Hosting Plan for a new project. The pricing for the annual plan was quite competitive, especially with the 'unlimited' features they advertise. Account activation was quick after payment. The cPanel interface is familiar, which is a plus. Site uptime has been good, I haven't noticed any major outages. However, I did find that the 'unlimited' storage started to feel a bit restrictive once I began uploading larger media files for clients. It wasn't a hard limit, but performance seemed to dip slightly. Customer service was responsive, but sometimes their initial answers felt a little generic, requiring a follow-up for more specific help. Still, for the cost, it's a solid option.

Fast and easy!

I just got the Multi-domain Hosting and it was so easy to set up! My websites are running super fast, and I loved that I could pay with Paymaya! The free SSL was a nice bonus too. Definitely happy with this host, will come back again!

Good for WordPress

I ordered the Personal Hosting Plan for my small WordPress site. The setup was fairly straightforward after I got the cPanel details. The free website migration service was actually quite helpful; I submitted a ticket and they had my old site transferred over in about 24 hours without any downtime, which was a relief. Support responded to my initial questions about PHP versions quickly, within an hour or so, which was good. The site performance has been solid, no complaints on speed so far, and the SSL certificate was installed automatically. I paid using GCash, which was really convenient for me here in the Philippines. Overall, it's been a smooth experience for the price.

Reliable choice, again

This is my third year with Capitan Hosting, and they've been consistently reliable. I've renewed my Professional Hosting Plan each time. I initially switched to them because of the local payment options and the promise of good support, and they've delivered. My sites have always been up, and any minor issues I've had were resolved promptly. This time around, I added another domain, and the process was as smooth as before. It's just a dependable service, no surprises, which is exactly what I look for in a host. The SSD storage definitely makes a difference in loading times.

Good hosting, no fuss

Signed up for their Cloud Web Hosting plan a few weeks back. It was pretty easy to get started, and I used GCash to pay for it which was super convenient. My site loaded quick enough, and I haven't had any problems with it going down or anything. The dashboard is straightforward, didn't have to spend ages figuring things out. It's just working, which is all I really wanted. Happy with it.

My Capitan Hosting renewal is coming up for my Unlimited Web Hosting plan. The initial price was great because of a first-year discount. Does anyone know if they offer renewal coupons or discounts? Trying to avoid paying full price if possible.

A AnnaB 2 hours ago
I think if you pay annually, it's already discounted compared to monthly billing. That's usually the 'renewal discount' for many hosts. Did you check your billing cycle options?
11
H HostHunter 2 hours ago
That annual discount is standard, not really a 'renewal coupon' though.
6
E EllaMae 1 hour ago
Good point. I'm on annual, but hoping for an extra promo code on top of that.

D DomainDude 1 hour ago
My renewal for a domain registration came up last month and I couldn't find any specific coupon code. Ended up paying the regular price. Maybe hosting plans are different?
3
H HostHunter 13 minutes ago
Could be. Hosting plans usually have more wiggle room for discounts.
7
H HostHunter 9 minutes ago
Yeah, I've seen renewal coupons pop up sometimes, but they're not always advertised directly. Best bet is to contact their support a few weeks before your renewal date and ask if they have any available. Sometimes they'll offer one to keep you as a customer.

M MarkyB 14 minutes ago
Following this, my renewal is next month too.

E EllaMae 11 minutes ago
That's a good idea. I'll try that this week.

My Capitan Hosting renewal is coming up soon, and the price jump is a bit steep compared to the first year. Are there any renewal coupons floating around, or a way to get a discount? Or should I just look into migrating?

S SarahL 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I renewed my Personal Hosting Plan last month and didn't find any public renewal coupons. I just ended up paying for the annual billing to get a bit of a discount. It's usually cheaper than monthly, even without a specific coupon. Also, sometimes they have a GCash payment discount, check their promos page for that.

A AnnaC 2 weeks ago
Oh, a GCash discount? I pay with that all the time. I'll check their site. Thanks!

S SarahL 2 weeks ago
Usually new sign-ups, but sometimes they extend it. It varies.

P PaoloV 2 weeks ago
Does the GCash discount apply to renewals too, or just new purchases?
0
M MarkD 2 weeks ago
Yeah, that's pretty standard for most hosting providers. They hook you with a cheap first-year discount. Sometimes, if you contact their support and mention you're thinking of leaving because of the price, they might offer a retention discount. Worth a shot!

I tried that with my previous host, didn't work. But Capitan Hosting support seems pretty responsive, so I'll give it a go.
7
R RyanG 2 weeks ago
I heard sometimes paying for multiple years upfront gives a bigger discount. Not sure if that applies to renewals though. You could also check if a bulk hosting discount applies if you have multiple domains/sites with them.
7
A AnnaC 2 weeks ago
Good point on the multi-year. I only have one site with them, so bulk hosting probably won't work for me.

Thinking of moving my small business site to Capitan Hosting. Currently on a shared plan with another provider and it's been a bit slow lately. Was looking at their Business Hosting Plan. Anyone here using it for a somewhat active site? How are the speeds and uptime?

J Joyce_PH 4 weeks ago
I switched to their Business Plan about 6 months ago for my online shop. Honestly, the speeds are noticeably better than my previous host. Had one small downtime for about 20 mins late at night, but support was quick to respond when I messaged them. They seem pretty solid for the price.

D DaveTech 4 weeks ago
Yeah, their support is usually decent. I had a quick issue with an SSL certificate and they fixed it fast.

Good to hear! What kind of traffic does your shop get, if you don't mind me asking?

W WP_Guru 4 weeks ago
I'm on their Professional plan, which is a step up, but I can vouch for their stability. My WordPress site runs smoothly. Also, they offer free site migration, which was a huge relief when I moved over. Made the whole process painless.

A AnnaB 4 weeks ago
Did they handle everything or did you have to do some setup after?
6
M Miguelito 4 weeks ago
Free migration is a big plus. That's one of my concerns.

Used Capitan for a personal project a while back on their Personal Hosting plan. It was okay for a small site, but I heard their higher-tier plans are where they really shine. For a business, I'd probably trust Joyce_PH's experience more.

What's the deal with their 'unlimited' hosting? Is it like, actually unlimited, or is there some fine print catch?

F Faith 1 month ago
It's generally unlimited for typical website use, like storage and bandwidth. But if you try to host massive video archives or use it as a file-sharing site, they'll probably flag you. It's in the fine print somewhere, but for a normal website, you're usually fine.
4
R Rosa Okafor 1 month ago
I think it's more about fair usage. They don't limit your actual site files for a normal blog or small business, but don't expect to be streaming Netflix from it, haha.

Thinking of moving my small business site to Capitan Hosting. Currently on a shared plan with another provider and it's getting slow. Is their unlimited hosting really 'unlimited' or are there hidden caps?

T TechieJuan 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Depends on what you mean by unlimited. If you're running heavy video streaming or massive file downloads, no shared host is truly unlimited. For typical website files and reasonable traffic, it's usually fine. I've used their WordPress Hosting for a client's site, and it was pretty snappy. SSD hosting makes a difference.
5
M MiguelA 1 month ago
That's what I figured. Just static pages and a few hundred product images, nothing crazy.

C Carlo88 1 month ago
Hey Miguel, I moved my portfolio site to their Unlimited Web Hosting plan last year. So far, it's been pretty solid. No issues with traffic spikes during promos, and the speed is decent. I wouldn't call it 'truly unlimited' for like, a massive e-commerce store, but for a small business or personal site, it handles things well. They do have fair usage policies, but I haven't hit them yet.
0
J JessicaM 1 month ago
Yeah, those 'fair usage' clauses always get you. What kind of site do you run, Carlo?
4
M MiguelA 1 month ago
Good to know. My current host started throttling me after a few thousand visitors a month.

S SofiaG 1 month ago
I'm on their Professional Hosting Plan, which is technically also 'unlimited' in terms of disk space and bandwidth. I've heard some horror stories about other hosts with unlimited claims, but Capitan Hosting has been okay for my blog and small online shop. The free SSL certificate was a nice bonus too. Just make sure to read their terms carefully.

Mine renewed fine last month.

M MiguelA 1 month ago
The free SSL is definitely a plus. Does it auto-renew or do you have to do it manually?
4

It auto-renews, thankfully! No manual fiddling needed.

Thinking of moving my small business site over to Capitan Hosting. Do they actually help with moving my existing site, or is that just marketing fluff?

P Phil 1 month ago
They do! I used their free migration service last month. Just had to give them the details and they handled it. Pretty smooth process.

Yep, free migration is real. Saved me a headache trying to figure out all the database stuff myself. Just opened a ticket.

Hey guys, is Capitan Hosting legit? Like for real, or just another fly-by-night operation from the PH?

K Kevin Hughes 1 month ago
Yeah, they're legit. Been with them for almost a year now for my blog, no issues. Servers seem stable enough.
4
B Brett Osei 1 month ago
Totally. They're a registered PH company. Had a small site with them for about six months before I moved to something bigger, but never had any doubt they were real.

Anybody know if Capitan Hosting takes GCash for payments? Trying to keep everything local and easy.

K Kate E. 1 month ago
Yup, they do! Used GCash for my last renewal just fine. Super convenient.

G Greg 1 month ago
Yep, GCash and Paymaya are both options. Makes it way easier than fiddling with credit cards or PayPal sometimes.
